Plan Your Stay in Seguin Texas

There are tasty little treats around every curve in Downtown Seguin. So gather your family or pals and plan for your upcoming weekend break. Here are some recommendations for your upcoming trip to Seguin’s Old Town.

Reserve a room at Magnolia Bed & Breakfast.

The Magnolia Bed & Breakfast is located within the boundaries of Downtown Seguin’s historic charm. Your hosts will enchant you with tales of Seguin’s earlier times and the fables that surround the hotel. Central Park and all the entertainment Downtown Seguin offers are only a few feet away.

This tour will also astound you whether or not you believe in ghosts. Follow hotel owner and spooky author Erin O. Wallace-Ghedi as she guides you around each space in this enormous 10,000 sq. ft. two-story structure. During the two-hour tour, you will learn about the past and paranormal activity of this former 1850s frontier hotel, speakeasy, jail, stagecoach stop, and brothel. As you explore Texas’ most infamous haunted hotel, you will hear tales about the prior occupants and guests. They do not advise an excursion for people who are easily alarmed because a paranormal activity has been known to occur along the route.

Local coffee shops offer pastries and more.

Take a stroll through downtown in the morning to uncover two excellent brunch establishments that provide great coffee and pastries. Both Court Street Coffee and Seguin Coffee Company provide menus of distinctive beverages to meet the palates of all customers. They, therefore, have you covered whether you want a quick drive-through fix or a sit-down meal in a historic structure.

A Pecan Treat

If you haven’t been to Seguin yet, you’re in for a real treat. A sweet made with pecans.

You may have guessed that we take great pride in our pecans and have THREE of the biggest pecans in the world. Here is the narrative:

The historic Guadalupe County Courthouse is in front of the 1962 construction of the World’s Largest Pecan in Downtown Seguin. This pecan statue, a passion project of a local dentist, was created as a tribute to Cabeza de Vaca, who spent nine years imprisoned on the Guadalupe River, well known as the “river of nuts.” Pecan trees flourish in this area, and Guadalupe County is one of Texas’ top pecan-producing counties.

Everyone was surprised in Seguin; the title was eventually taken in the 1980s by an even bigger pecan constructed in Brunswick, Missouri. So Kenneth Pape, the owner of the Pape Pecan House, built a 10-foot-long mobile pecan to be carried in parades. This fiberglass pecan, which is still visible outside the Pape Pecan House in Seguin, was regarded as the largest mobile pecan in the entire world. Now Seguin has an even larger mobile pecan built in 2011.

Park picnic

There are 12 parks totaling 379.9 acres in the City of Seguin. Max Starcke Park, which spans 227 acres along the lovely Guadalupe River, is the largest in the city. The park features a wave pool, a natural fishing area, a paddling trail, a disc golf course, a walking route (0.8 miles), tennis, basketball, and volleyball courts. It also has an 18-hole golf course carved out of a riverfront pecan grove. Kids Kingdom Playscape and the Little League baseball-softball complex are both available for kids. There is a park called Barky Park where water and easy dog baggies are available. There are also pavilions and picnic places spread out around the park.

Families and kids enjoy spending time together in the city’s newest park, Park West. Here, teenagers can ride on the off-road bicycle trail or skate at the MTR Skatepark; babies can get wet at the Splash Pad, kids can zoom down slides, and parents can play basketball or run on the trail.

Pick up some lunch at one of the mouthwatering restaurants in Downtown Seguin and have a picnic at the picturesque Walnut Springs Park. Your family will experience a natural retreat and comfortable seat in the shade, listening to the sound of the river and the rustle of the trees. After your dinner, you might want to get on the trail and stroll along the creek if you like going for a walk.

Booze up!

Usually, when people think about Seguin, Texas, they picture a little town close to San Antonio. They might recall something about pecans and Texas heritage, but craft beer is rarely a thought.

That, my friends, is what has brought us together today. In observance of International Beer Day, we wanted to tell you about some fantastic places to imbibe. We have craft breweries in Seguin in addition to The Oak, one of the oldest beer spots in Texas.

Treat yourself to a nice drink at one of our neighborhood pubs at the end of the day. You can enjoy the view of the beautiful Guadalupe River and have some of the great food and beer in the Power Plant Texas Grill, and if you want locally brewed beer and tasty side dishes, the Seguin Brewing Company has got you covered. We are positive you will enjoy our downtown nightlife and small-town hospitality, whether you are in the mood for a glass of wine on a rooftop, a cold pint of craft beer, or a handcrafted cocktail in the saloon.

We may be partial, but we believe Downtown Seguin is the ideal location for a fun weekend, regardless of your style. Our Downtown partners have taken considerable security measures to make Seguin a secure location. We sincerely hope you and your guests will consider visiting our clean, attractive locations.
